Sweet and innocent, 14 year old Tylar Witt, pleads guilty to stabbing her 47 year old mother Joanne Witt. California authorities say Joanne Witt showed Tylar Witts diary to sheriff's deputies, as proof, to her claim that Tylar Witt's boyfriend, 19 year old Steven Colver, committed statutory rape, by having consensual sex with her daughter. Tylar and Steven dyed their hair and fled to the San Francisco area where they were arrested and accused of killing her mother, Joanne Witt, while she slept in their upscale home, Joanne Witt was stabbed several times. Lawyers for each defendant have maintained that the other defendant committed the murder. Steven Colver's attorney told reporters that the plea is further proof that Tylar Witt stabbed her own mother. "What young girl would plead guilty if she didn't do it?" But Tylar Witt's attorney says his client took the deal "because she wanted to do the right thing" – not because she's conceding to stabbing her mother. "(The) DA or any detectives in the case don't believe she's the one that committed the stabbing," says Mark Ralphs, a public defender. The DA's official story paints Steven Colver as the one that did the stabbing. Tylar Witt was convicted on second-degree murder and the court will sentence her to at least 15 years in prison.
